Wireless Networks/Wi-Fi

Although most of us still have a tangled mess of wires beneath our desks, wireless computing has become quite popular. Wireless basically refers to the capability of accessing a network without the wires.

Wireless is wonderful in the home because it lets you connect two or more computers located in different parts of the house without the expense of installing wiring in the walls. Once they are networked, the computers can share an Internet connection as well as peripherals like printers, and files can be accessed, moved, or copied between the networked computers. To create a wireless home network, you'll need a wireless modem/router and wireless adapters for each computer.

You can hook your main computer up to the access point router with an Ethernet (network) cable, but all other computers to be networked must be wireless-enabled.
