Secure Data Destruction

Prevent Identity Theft and Information based fraud.

Our Certified Data Destruction service provides peace of mind that your sensitive data stored on a failed or obsolete hard drive will not fall into the wrong hands. In the event of a disk failure, or if you want to dispose of your old computer we can completely wipe your hard disk and destroy all data.  We can even provide certification of destruction, and dispose of the old disk for you.

Simply re-formatting a hard drive is not enough to make data irretrievable. Anyone disposing of a personal computer must ensure that all data is securely wiped using specialist software to wipe over every sector of the hard drive.
Basic advice for wiping data from a PC

• Remember that the delete function does not securely wipe/erase the data. Much of it will be retrievable.
• Emptying the recycle bin does not mean that the files are gone for ever
• Reformatting the hard drive does not wipe/erase the data
• Reinstalling the operating system does not mean that your old files are gone forever
• Always wipe the whole hard drive using a specialist software application before disposing of the computer.
• If in doubt, contact us for advice before letting the PC out of your possession.
How much does it cost?

Costs vary depending on the size and quantity of devices involved, however prices start at £25 per device.
What security standards are used?

We delete data to the standard set in HMG IS5 Enhanced.  The British HMG IS5 Enhanced is a three pass overwriting algorithm: first pass - with zeroes, second pass - with ones and the last pass with random bytes (last pass is verified).

We can also delete data to the following standards:

• Bruce Schneier's algorithm (Seven passes: first pass - with ones, the second pass - with zeroes and then five times with random characters)
• Canadian OPS-II (A seven pass overwriting algorithm with three alternating patterns of zeroes and ones and the last pass - with random character with last pass verification)
• DoD 5220.22 M (A three pass overwriting algorithm: first pass - with zeroes, second pass - with ones and the last pass with random bytes. With all passes verification.)
• Gutmann's algorithm (35 passes)
• German VSITR (Seven passes with three alternating patterns of zeroes and ones and in the last pass with character)
HMG IS5 Baseline (One pass - Your data is overwritten with zeroes with verification)
HMG IS5 Enhanced (as above)
• Navso P-5329-26 (RL) (A three pass overwriting algorithm with last pass verification)
• Navso P-5329-26 (MFM) (A three pass overwriting algorithm with last pass verification)
• Russian GOST p50739-95 (Two passes - a single pass of zeroes followed by a single pass of random byte)
• US Army AR380-19 (A three pass overwriting algorithm: first pass - with random bytes, second and third passes with certain bytes and with its compliment (with last pass verification)
• One-pass zeros method
• One-pass random characters method
• User defined method (user’s pattern and specified number of passes)
• User-defined number of passes (up to 99)

Note: Unless government strength security is desired, wiping scheme with one, two or three passes is sufficient to completely delete files information.

After the data is destroyed, you will receive a printed certificate certifiying the data deletion to the required standard.

Our Data Destruction service provides peace of mind that your sensitive data stored on a hard drive will not fall into the wrong hands. In the event of a disk failure, or when buying a new computer we can completely wipe your old hard disk and destroy all data and will provide a certification of destruction.
